Understanding the brake system
Disc brakes are a type of brake system. The brakes applies friction to both the front and rear axles. Drum brakes have a series of tubes and hoses that connect to the drum that is on the rear axle. Secondary brake systems include parking brakes, anti-lock brakes and power brake boosters. Together the entire brake system is designed to stop your car. The pedal applies pressure to a plunger that pushes the brake fluid into hydraulics of the brake system. Disc brakes in addition have fluid that is forced into a caliper, where it applies pressure on the piston that squeezes the rotors onto the axle.
Through these dynamic brake system, it slows your car down.
*The most common problem for brakes is ware and tare. This consists of the brake system taking excessive use or accumulated heat. The friction lessens overtime. More pressure on the pedal must be applied and when doing so, more heat is produced. The ware and tare process increases. It is common to replace your brakes once every 50,000 miles.
*Rotor damage can be a cause from not changing the brakes in time. It is common to have to repair or replace rotors. Often the brakes run down, and in turn causes a high heat on the rotor and pressure which will cause the rotors to warp and bend. This will create a dangerous wobble in the car when braking. This means the flush surface for a reliable brake process is no longer smooth. Often before replacing the rotor, we try to turn them and refresh the surface to allow for another use from the rotors before having to completely replace.
*You may need to replace Rotors during a brake service if:
Hard on Brakes
Commute On Hills And Mountains (High Grade)
Carrying Trailers or Heavy Loads

Using Non-Vented Rotors
